Xeomin®
What is Xeomin®?
Xeomin is a leading edge injectable approved by the FDA to help reduce moderate to severe glabellar lines in the forehead. With its additive-free formula, Xeomin is an excellent choice for anyone who may have found less than satisfactory results with BOTOX. With Xeomin, a smoother, firmer and more youthful countenance is now yours, all without discomfort or downtime.
Much like BOTOX, Xeomin works by blocking the nerve signals responsible for facial contractions. Once the tiny facial muscles are paralyzed, the skin smoothes out and the complexion is revitalized.
In order to effect comprehensive changes in the areas of the face showing wrinkles, fine lines and creases, a patient may need anywhere from 6 to 25 Xeomin injections. After treatment, the face appears more open and well-rested, and the facial expression itself is more inviting.

How long will do injections take?
It takes literally less than a minute to inject Xeomin®. It is my preference to mark the sites of injection with the patient performing a series of facial motions to best identify the sites the injections are needed. After injecting, the patient holds a small ice pack on each area for a couple of minutes and is then free to leave the office.
What is recovery like?
Patients are released to full activity right after injections. My advice is to avoid ‘checking to see if it worked’…trying to move the muscles that were injected to determine if the product has taken effect. I believe that contracting the muscles can force the product out of the desired site and compromise the longevity of results.
What are the risks of a Xeomin?
The biggest risk is migration of the product to muscles that were not intended to be treated: this can manifest as brow ptosis or eyelid ptosis, or a lowering of the brow or eyelid. If this happens, it is temporary. Sometimes specific eye drops are indicated if the eyelid is lowered and this can help improve the appearance until it naturally resolves.
